A window into the world beyond the journey.
We developed What's Out My Window?, an interactive digital experience for CrossCountry that invites users to explore the world beyond the train window. The project transforms the familiar experience of rail travel into an opportunity for discovery, using digital technology to connect journeys with the places, landscapes and points of interest along the way.
Designed to encourage exploration, the experience gives users a new way to engage with the journey itself, shifting the focus from simply travelling between destinations to discovering what lies in between. By bringing geographical context and interactive content together, it offers a more engaging way to learn about the places that make up the CrossCountry network.
The project demonstrates how interactive digital experiences can add value to everyday activities, turning a train journey into something more immersive and informative. Rather than treating the journey as just a means of getting from A to B, the experience encourages curiosity about the surrounding world and the places passengers pass through.
Combining thoughtful user experience design with interactive web technology, What's Out My Window? showcases the potential to make travel more engaging through digital storytelling, helping passengers connect with the landscape and discover more about the world outside their window.
