What AI-driven training simulations are

An AI training simulation is an immersive lesson that responds to whoever is taking it. There is no fixed video and no scripted walk-through. Generative AI changes the situation as it unfolds, plays the colleague or customer the learner has to deal with, and judges how they handle it. It feels like practice, not a test you can revise for.

It is part of our Immersive AI work and builds on thirty years of Virtual Reality delivery.

Why AI changes immersive training

Conventional VR training has a limit. The scenario is authored once, so after a few runs a learner knows what is coming and starts recalling the answers instead of reading the situation. Generative AI takes that limit away.

Each run is different, so learners have to respond to what is in front of them. The simulation watches how they are coping and makes the task harder or easier to match. Where the scenario involves another person, one of our Conversational AI Characters plays them and replies to whatever the learner says or does. At the end, the system scores the decisions, words and actions it saw and gives feedback straight away. A facilitator does not have to sit in on every session.

Where adaptive training works

Safety drills are the clearest case. In an industrial setting the hazard can move every run, so teams practise judging a situation instead of learning one route to the exit.

It also suits soft skills. In training and education, people rehearse appraisals, complaints and care conversations in VR with an AI character who reacts to their tone and their choices.

The same approach covers equipment maintenance: guided practice in inspecting and servicing machinery, which extends our existing AR for machinery maintenance work.

Framing the return on investment

The case for immersive training rarely comes down to one number. People practise more often. They practise in conditions that would be expensive or dangerous to stage for real. Facilitators spend less time scoring because the system does it. Adaptive scenarios add to this because one build keeps producing new practice instead of turning into a script people have memorised.
